About Us
While still engaged in technical search work I began a long transition toward a field I felt had been overlooked: Preservation of your Savings. Only protecting your health is more important. I began writing essays entitled Protect Your Future Now finally realizing that the most vital issue was not losing your nest egg. I gradually began counseling people on Savings Preservation and related topics. This pursuit is now called StrongStep, it is quite dissimilar to investment counseling. The orientation required is more abstract and the concentration is on helping the individual develop their own financial self-defense system. I do not presently sell any securities. I do conduct small seminars and personal consultations.
You can read the earlier essays at www.sundayusa.com/pyfnow.
I have been a working recruiter since 1980, we opened our own office in two years later. My experience spans software technology, financial services, actuarial sciences, statistics, data mining & database marketing, healthcare services, financial software, embedded systems and consulting in all those fields. I still work on recruitment assignments in specific fields see www.sundayusa.com/recruitment.html.
Prior to twenty seven years of recruitment I was a Director of Artist & Repertoire in the music industry at three major labels, CBS, Capitol and Vanguard Records. I also founded Waterhouse Records with partners in Minneapolis. I produced or served as the executive producer for album projects with such artists as Leo Kottke, Minnie Riperton, Redbone, Phil Austin of the Firesign Theater, Harry Shearer & Michael McKean (Spinal Tap), Henny Youngman, Elvin Bishop, Jessie Ed Davis, Diana Hubbard (L. Ron's daughter) and bluesman James Cotton.
In 1995 my book of technology humor "This Is Your Brain On The Internet" was published by Ziff Davis Press. In 2010 I finished a novel and saw it through to publishing titled “Kate McGill, Romanian Cold Hand”. More background is available at www.katemcgill.com.
I received a BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and studied for a M.P.H. at UC Berkeley. Laura and I have two children, Jessie and Gabriel.
Gabriel starred in a startling, well received movie, “My Suicide”, which is entering distribution in 2011. It has won 20 international awards and never fails to capture younger viewers. See www.mysuicide.net. Our daughter has worked in the nonprofit field and now is the City Manager for Livingsocial.com in San Francisco. My wife Laura creates community events such as www.tasteofpetaluma.com. and a long running Chili Cookoff, www.cinnabartheater.org/chili/.
I hike and bicycle daily around Sonoma County. I am on the steering committee of a group working to save 14 acres in Petaluma, www.slcrr.org. I also work on locating funding for media and artistic projects.
